A large, elongated board for a full aperitif spread, a row of bread rolls or a piece of meat you carve at the table. Its length fits a whole row of nibbles, so you can serve the entire table with it. Empty, it also looks lovely on the counter, propped against the wall.
Ali Weshky made the board in his workshop Weshwood in Deurne, especially for Matriks. He uses European walnut, a dark, warm wood with a lively grain. That grain makes each board unique: no two are marked the same.
If you want to cut on it, place a piece of baking paper under the knife, so the surface stays beautiful. Wash the board by hand and let it dry upright. Give it some board oil now and then and the colour stays deep and the wood doesn't dry out.
