A smoke alarm you don't need to hide, for the hallway, the bedroom or the living room. Fit one on every floor, especially where you sleep, and test it now and then with the button. This model works on its own and isn't linked to other alarms, so it is easy to put up.
The alarm comes in silver, with a finish in Gabriel fabric made from recycled polyester that gives it a soft, textile look. The round, clean silhouette blends quietly into a white ceiling or a light wall. Inside, an optical system with a beam of light constantly checks the air for smoke particles.
The design comes from Jacob Jensen, the Danish studio known for simple, well-considered design. The battery is built in and lasts for years, after which you replace the whole alarm, as the law requires. A sensible and good-looking gift for a new home.
