Two deep plates for pasta, risotto, a stew or a bowl of soup. The low, hollowed shape keeps sauce and broth together, and the rolled rim makes them pleasant to hold and pass round. Because they are ovenproof, they can also go in the oven for a gratin or baked eggs.
Barro means 'red clay' in Portuguese, and refers to the age-old tradition of terracotta. Hay has the range made in Portugal. These plates are finished in an authentic terracotta colour, warm and earthy, the closest to the original material.
Terracotta brings a southern feel to the table, even on an ordinary weekday. Combine the plates with other colours from the Barro collection, such as pink or green, for a relaxed, personal table. They come in pairs and are dishwasher safe.
