Last week, I made a decision I'd been contemplating for a while: from now on, we're shipping all our packages with DPD instead of Bpost.
This wasn't a snap decision. There are a lot of reasons for it, and I'm happy to explain:
More Favorable Shipping Rates (for both of us)
DPD's rates are simply better, and I'm happy to pass that saving on to you.
-
To a collection point: €4.90 (previously €7.50)
-
Home delivery: €6.90
Why am I a fan of collection points?
They are more environmentally friendly (fewer vans on the road) and convenient for you: you pick up your package when it suits you.
Good to know: for orders over €100, you pay no shipping costs at all.
Much Better Tracking & Communication
Another major frustration with Bpost was the lack of good tracking.
DPD does this much better: you receive emails and texts with a time slot, you can track your driver on a live map, and you have more control if you're not home. This way, you can easily change your delivery, choose a neighbor, or a different time. This leads to far fewer misunderstandings or missed deliveries.

Faster Deliveries
Since the switch, I've noticed that deliveries are generally faster. Orders prepared on time are often with you the next day.
If something goes wrong now? It's usually my fault (laughs), not the delivery service.
Ready for International Customers
Our website is now also available in English.
We are getting more and more orders from Germany, France, and the Czech Republic. With DPD, these are now much more affordable.
For example:
-
To a collection point in France: €8.90
-
Previously with Bpost: €15, via external partners
DPD has its own international network, making shipping smoother and cheaper.
