AB Ceramics is the ceramics label of Ann Berger, my mother and the founder of Matriks. After 17 years at the helm of the shop, she swapped the counter for the potter's wheel. Every piece is thrown, glazed and fired by hand in Antwerp, which makes each one unique.
The story
From Matriks to the potter's wheel
Ann Berger, my mother, founded Matriks and ran it for 17 years. Then it was time for something else. After many courses at home and abroad, she started making ceramics five years ago. Today she occasionally teaches classes herself.
She prefers to make unique pieces. Every piece is different, which gives her room to experiment and discover what clay and glaze can still do. Repetition is not really her thing. Her olive oil bottles have become a real bestseller, and each one of those has its own character too.
Even so, she has made complete tableware sets for a number of people, including me. Dreaming of a set made by her? Feel free to ask about it in the shop.

Thrown by hand
Every piece is made on the wheel in Ann's studio in Antwerp, where it is also glazed and fired.
Clay and glaze
Clean shapes in different coloured clays, finished with striking glazes. That gives every piece its own character.
Every piece unique
Ann prefers to make unique pieces. No two are exactly alike, so what you take home is truly yours.
Tableware made to order
