Vitra Eames House Bird Black

The Eames House Bird was designed by Vitra . The design duo Charles & Ray Eames are known for their iconic designs, but also for their collection of objects that they collected throughout their lives.

It was on a trip to the Appalachians - a mountain range in the US - that they are said to have found the bird. It was used to decorate their own home, the Eames House. The bird, an example of 'folk art', quickly became a valuable object for the duo. Vitra therefore decided to reproduce the beloved bird many years later and called it the 'Eames House Bird'.

It is an ode to the design legends Charles & Ray Eames as well as the craftsmanship and simplicity of 'folk art'.
