La Mère , the first ceramic tableware line by Marie Michielssen, is a loving ode to the (grand)mother figure and to women in general. The tableware looks a bit nostalgic but is innovative in many ways due to the vertical structure. Each shape is unique and sculpted by hand.
All pieces are finished with a glaze in off-white or a warm dark brown, almost black. As a third, contrasting colour, Marie chose a powerful Venetian red. The designer also deliberately chose those colours to create a mix & match of white with dark brown or red with dark brown.
